The past year feels like an AI sprint into a new age of technological revolution. ChatGPT has finally turned one, and over this period, we have seen countless new advancements that have changed our lives. From being a simple chatbot that hallucinated a lot to an advanced and multimodal AI system, ChatGPT has grown tremendously over the course of one year. So, on the first anniversary of ChatGPT, we take a look at all the progress and hiccups ChatGPT has gone through. From its launch to the current set of features it offers, we have included everything in the article. On that note, let’s begin.ChatGPT Goes LiveOn November 30, 2022, OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT to the world as part of the research preview for free. Within a short period of just two months, it amassed more than 100 million monthly users, becoming the fastest-growing service in the world, beating even Facebook.Unlike abstract AI concepts that seemed far away from the reach of general users, ChatGPT finally allowed users to interact with an AI-powered chatbot in a friendly web interface.ChatGPT was trained to be conversational, and it was built on OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 model. In a way, it was similar to InstructGPT, which followed user instructions to give a response. However, ChatGPT was trained to have a dialogue with users, while having context in mind. OpenAI in its opening blog noted that, ChatGPT sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answersHallucination was a challenging issue with the initial version of ChatGPT, built on the GPT-3.5 model. However, with the launch of the GPT-4 model (more on this below), OpenAI has managed to reduce factually incorrect responses significantly. As for the ChatGPT hype, when the service was launched, it seemed the AI chatbot was going to kill Google Search and various other online products. The company is reportedly working through engineering challenges and software bugs tied to Siri's integration with Apple Intelligence, the company's AI, which could push back the launch date, according to a Bloomberg report. The update was originally planned for an April launch – with a beta version release as early as late February – but is now expected in May or later, as the company works to finalize the software. Apple teased the launch of a Siri overhaul at WWDC 2024 last June.Apple workers testing the new features reportedly say the assistant's performance remains inconsistent. Still, the company is working quickly to finish the software, the report said. Some features originally intended for iOS 19 may now be pushed back to 2026. The rollout of Apple Intelligence has been anything but smooth, as it's been prone to glitches and introduced in stages. In December, Siri was integrated with ChatGPT, allowing users to use the chatbot for additional assistance on questions asked via Apple's voice assistant. But some features have not yet been introduced, such as the ability to better respond to tasks, offer answers with greater personalized insight and do more within apps.Read more: Siri Got a Makeover:

August 12, 2021 Leah Think of an advanced chatbot as a Gundam model kit . Building a chatbot using an API gives you the flexibility to piece together and customize your own powerful robot. When building a Gundam, each piece must be cut out, sanded, smoothed and conjoined with other pieces to form a model. Then the builder can creatively modify their robot — which isn’t possible with most pre-built toys. This laborious process is no different than creating a chatbot using an API , y’know, without the cool laser guns. An advanced chatbot created from many significant parts (data, intents, answers, language engines) will improve the communication quality between your business and customers and save you money. How? Such an advanced solution understands a large variety of intents (questions/requests) and is connected to a natural language understanding engine like DialogFlow . This means it’s better prepared to analyze and learn from a large volume of requests. This will help improve the accuracy of its responses and resolution times, thus reducing your agents’ workload. Things you can’t get from your rigid out-of-the-box decision tree solutions. I’ll cover the basics of what you need to build a chatbot using an API. I’ll also give a few software recommendations for building your bot that don’t require creating your own logic — just clicking all your pieces into place. I’ll also explain how you can connect your custom chatbot to our messaging software, Userlike , to start building better customer relationships. What you need to make a chatbot using an API Building and connecting your own chatbot using an API is relatively simple to do compared to code-heavy avenues where you build your own chatbot logic from scratch. The software we mention in this post supplies logic, prewritten intents and short answers for you. You fill in the rest. The process and tools will vary from software to software, but many of the elements you need to prepare stay the same. The tools and data you’ll need to create a chatbot using an API: A chatbot entity. Did Michelangelo start painting the Sistine Chapel without an idea in mind? No, he had a vision. Your chatbot isn’t going to be the next world-renowned work of art, but it will affect those who come into contact with your business. Before designing your chatbot, give it a name , persona and role to make script writing easier and sell your brand. This doesn’t need to be complicated; chatbots are a tool and not an attraction. However, if your service agents are expected to use empathy, kindness and personality when talking to customers, your chatbot should adhere to this as well for continuity. A development portal. You’ll build your chatbot using an API development portal with preconfigured tools. It’s a level up from drag and drop solutions like Landbot.io but not as complicated as coding your own bot. I listed a few below to help you get started, though you’ll still need to do your own. When did chatbot launch. ChatGPT was first introduced in 2025 and quickly gained popularity due to its ability to generate human-like responses. A chatbot is able to understand natural language queries and generate responses based on the context of the conversation.

Microsoft has expanded its Bing Chat AI widget to bring its powerful conversational assistant right to the fingertips of Android and iOS users. The launch represents the next step in Microsoft’s mission to provide seamless AI solutions across platforms and devices. This Bing AI Chat widget comes hot on the heels of the AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser, which launched back in February. The AI-powered Bing was designed to offer users a better search and more answers as well as offering a unique chat experience that could not only act as a personal assistant but also generate content. The widget lets users search Bing or use the AI chat experience directly from their home screen through either touch or voice. Moreover, the Bing app will also work to continue their conversation with the AI chatbot across both desktop and mobile devices without interruptions. While, at first, the cross-device usage won’t be automatic, instead requiring users to use a QR code to move the conversation, automation is an update Microsoft says it will launch soon.SwiftKey supportBing app running the new Bing with ChatGPTMicrosoft has also folded Bing Chat support into its keyboard app, SwiftKey. Users will be able to search and chat with Bing from various mobile apps using the keyboard. For example, you can change the tone or reframe a message before deciding to hit send.Another big enhancement is an AI-powered translator can now be found directly within the SwiftKey keyboard, making it even easier to converse with anyone across the world. Other products in Microsoft's stable have also benefitted. Skype users can add the Bing chatbot to group chats, allowing other users to interact with the AI. This could be used, for example, by anyone working on creative projects and wanting to bring new ideas and perspectives on board. But perhaps one of the most exciting developments is the ability of the Bing Chat app to provide context when answering questions. It works by allowing users to ask questions or to summarise the content on the mobile page being viewed. For example, if you're planning a dinner party and want to know what dish works well with a recipe you're viewing on the app, utilising the chatbot could be the easiest way to work out the right pairing based on the ingredients.
