If the systems are running up-to-date patches and are clearly all behind a router, I suppose it'd be a safe assumption to say that they don't have firewall apps on each system. In that case, I'd try to establish a TCP connection to one of the windows services ports, DCOM, RPC, etc, although I don't know which are closed with the patches out now. I'd NETSTAT -n -a to see what ports are open on each box to decide what to test.edit: I re-read your post, and see you want to check an *external* system. In that case, you may have little to choose from. I'd try to get ICMP allowed on whatever network you are on, or since you are monitoring what are hopefully servers, try to establish connections to http daemon, etc VBForums Visual Basic Network Programming Alternative To Ping? When usage limits are about to be breached.Includes a home screen widget for long-running pings, and a Wake-on-LAN widget for waking a specific host.Recently used hosts, IP addresses and DNS servers are remembered for auto-completion.The results can be copied (via long-click on the output text), sent via email or stored in a file as text or PDF. A history of the results of recent operations is kept (swipe left and right to switch between tabs).Numerous options (like using an alternative name server, Ping TTL, showing ping times for each traceroute step, Broadcast Ping, using HTTPS, setting the HTTP port number, selection of DNS record types to query, etc.) are available.Contains no ads. Please join the Google Group "Ping & Net" where I support this app, especially if you're having problems.WHY THE GPS PERMISSION? First off, GPS is only accessed if the "Show Location" checkbox is set in the Ping Options dialog. This checkbox is turned off by default, so unless you explicitly set it, you don't need to worry about your location ever being tracked. Tracking location is useful for measuring ping times during long-running pings across large areas, like a factory or a university campus. Once a long-running ping with location is done, a Google Earth file (.dmz) is created that shows the ping times along with the geo location of each ping. Most people will never need this option, so you don't have to worry. And even if you do use it, location data is stored on the device,Alternatives To Ping Meter Gadget
Of your gameplay. Moreover, you should close all software that demands bandwidth, as it leeches all your bandwidth and will give you a terrible amount of delays and high ping times. You should also consider disabling your software updates before you start playing, as updates tend to consume a lot of bandwidth. You may just turn your updates back on after playing. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure to reduce the number of devices that are connected to the WiFi. If it's possible, disconnect all other connected devices on your local network so that you're the only one consuming the bandwidth. If not, the next best thing is to connect your PC to the router through an ethernet cable.Routers and modems tend to work non-stop which results to congested data registry. You should try restarting your router to refresh your connection and potentially lower your ping. If your router has been around since the stone age, you might want to consider buying a newer replacement. Replacing your router will noticeably affect your Internet connection speed, strength, and consistency. Furthermore, your ping will also likely be lower when you install a new router. You can also dramatically reduce your ping by using a dedicated gaming software. wtfast can lower your ping by reducing the number of hops it takes to get to your gaming server. By decreasing the number of hops between you and the Dragomon Hunter game server, you'll surely see a significant reduction with your ping and have a much, much better online gaming experience! The advantage of wtfast is that you aren’t limited to a single internet connection between you and the game router. Instead, wtfast gives you thousands and thousands of potential alternative routes between you and the game server, giving you a multitude of options. Another way to say Ping Alternative? Furthermore, your ping will also likely be lower when you install a new router. You can also dramatically reduce your ping by using a dedicated gaming software. wtfast can lower your ping by reducing the number of hops it takes to get to your gaming server. By decreasing the number of hops between you and the Atlas Reactor game server, you'll surely see a significant reduction with your ping and have a much, much better online gaming experience! The advantage of wtfast is that you aren’t limited to a single internet connection between you and the game router. Instead, wtfast gives you thousands and thousands of potential alternative routes between you and the game server, giving you a multitude of options and choices for improving your connection! With such a powerful utility, we encourage our users to experiment with different connection routes to find the path that’s best for them and their favorite game. Why is my ping so high in Atlas Reactor? The terms "high ping" and "low ping" are commonly used in online gaming. You may already know that ping is the network latency between a gaming client and the game server. Ping is measured in milliseconds where 1000 milliseconds is equivalent to 1 second. For gamers, low ping times are our best friend, because a low ping equates to low latency. This means there are fewer chances for lags and delays to happen. Contrary to a high ping which causes a significant amount of lag. Having a ping higher than 100ms can already produce a severe amount of lag. If you often experience pings that go higher than 100ms, chances are high that you suffer from ping spikes and jitter. This can be incredibly frustrating especially for an online gamer like you who plays Atlas Reactor. You might be wondering why your ping is so high in Atlas Reactor? Here are the possible reasons why...Your distance to the game server - the distance between your location and the game server has a big impact on the amount of delay you're experiencing. The further you are located from the game server, the higher ping you’ll have. Keep in mind that game servers are usually named by their geographic location, so you must check on that one.Wireless connections - connecting to the internet via a wireless connection will make you prone to interference. This will certainly result in increased latency, packet loss, jitter, and all sorts of other network-related performance issues. All of these could contribute to increasing your ping and slowing down yourGraphical Ping Alternatives for Linux
Connection:1. Switch to a Wired ConnectionWi-Fi can cause unstable connections and increased latency. Switching to a wired Ethernet connection often resolves these issues.2. Close Background ApplicationsApps like streaming services, downloads, or cloud backups can use up bandwidth, leading to bad ping in games. Close unnecessary apps before gaming.3. Use a VPN for GamingIf your ISP is throttling your connection, using a gaming VPN can help bypass these restrictions and improve your ping. Some VPNs also allow you to connect to better servers closer to common server locations for a smoother experience. For best results, consider using a gaming-optimized VPN like NordVPN or ExpressVPN — these services are known to boost gaming performance and reduce high ping.4. Optimize In-Game SettingsReducing graphical settings like FPS (frames per second) and adjusting the overall network settings within the game can help with jitter and packet loss, improving your gameplay stability.5. Change DNS SettingsSometimes, slow DNS responses can cause high latency. Change your DNS to a faster alternative, such as Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS, for quicker responses. Why Do I Have High Ping for No Reason? If you experience high ping for no reason, it could be due to:Server-side issues (the game server is having problems)Network congestion in your areaISP throttling or routing issuesIf you’re still having issues, it might be worth checking out online communities like Reddit, where gamers regularly discuss server problems, ISP issues, and other factors affecting ping and connectivity.ConclusionWhether you’re trying to achieve a flawless headshot in Fortnite or defeat the Baron in. Number of responses received, and how many (if any) were lost. The results will also summarize the minimum, maximum, and average round-trip time for the batch of test packets, allowing you to assess latency fluctuations. The Limitations of PingWhile ping is an excellent way to test a specific network path that seems to be slow or underperforming, it is a very stripped-down tool. Ping will not, for instance, help you fix any latency problems you may identify, nor does it let you check multiple network paths with a single command. The good news: there are several latency test programs (some of which are listed below), and many offer a more sophisticated set of ping-based tools. These solutions can, among other things, test multiple network paths from the same console or even run continuous ping tests, which lets you see in real-time how latency is fluctuating. How to Test Latency With TracerouteTraceroute is a utility often used in conjunction with ping (or I recommend using this free, alternative to traceroute built to improve path analysis).Whereas ping records the speed and latency of response packets, traceroute — as you might guess from the name—tracks the packet from the source to the destination, reporting back each of the hops the packet makes along the way. This can help you to identify what specific hops might be causing network trouble.Traceroute does this by sending data packets with a low survival time (called “time to live,” or TTL), which limits the number of hops each packet can take before it’s returned to the source. If a packet times out before reaching the intended destination, then the intermediate node sends the packet back and identifies itself. Traceroute tracks the intermediate hops by increasing the TTL of the data packets and creates a “map” of the path across the network or networks, from source to destination. If one of the intermediate hops sends back a “Request Timed Out” error message, it indicates network congestion, which can cause connections to drop and webpages to load slowly. How to Solve Latency IssuesBoth ping and traceroute are excellent tools for diagnosing network latency, but.
