Is dangerous for Chrome users, including me. Just tried accessing a page where I'd uploaded a video in Chrome, got redirected to the same page but with an address that read oladblock.me instead of openload.co, clicked play on the video and got a popup, which I was able to close, but then when I clicked play again, two more popups appeared in the top left and bottom right corners of my screen and they both kept blinking in and out. Had to just close the main window to get away from them. Will probably have to do a virus scan now. Won't be using openload.co again. Assumed if I was OK in Firefox, I'd be OK in Chrome too but I guess not. My CPU usage is also unusually high. Shit, I may have actually damaged my computer, I don't know. Can anyone recommend any alternatives to that fucking site? #12 If your CPU usage is higher, it wouldn't surprise me if you have a cryptominer running in the background. #13 Well it seems that Openload.co definitely is dangerous for Chrome users, including me. You are not going to damage your CPU by accidentally running a miner than you are by running any other intensive process on it. #14 If your CPU usage is higher, it wouldn't surprise me if you have a cryptominer running in the background. I don't think so. I see several instances of Software Reporter Tool running. That's something Google put into Chrome that scans your system and reports back to Google to see if they need to warn you about removing dangerous software. Apparently, it's been known to cause really high CPU usage and a lot of people don't like it because of privacy concerns. #15 You are not going to damage your CPU by accidentally running a miner than you are by running any other intensive process on it. I don't think it's a miner I'm running, anyway. It's just this Software Reporter Tool thing. #16 Just use can view videos in a player or download them. Cr4nkSh4ft last edited by leocg I have opera gx on my desktop and it works fine. I got gx for my laptop and Holy S**t!!!! it is killing my pc!! it uses like 40% of my memory (I have 2 TB!!!) and like 30 percent of my cpu (i got a 4070ti and my gpu is no less capable) What should i do??? jjhanzely last edited by So...why is Opera GX using way too much memory now? I've never had this issue until now. 26 Opera tasks running at the same time!? WTF!? I'm getting a little concerned that's it's gonna crash my computer now. I think this latest "update" is to blame. They need to fix this. leocg Moderator Volunteer @jjhanzely last edited by @jjhanzely As said, Chromium is multi-process, so it's normal and expected to see multiple processes running in a Chromium based browser like Opera. Also as said, use Shift Escape to see the running processes and how much RAM and CPU they are using. jjhanzely @leocg last edited by leocg @leocg I looked at my task manager. I open Google Chrome...and it's using 170 MB memory to run. I open Opera...and it's using 900 GB to run. Why? My icon turns red, for heaven's sake. Part of the reason was that stupid GX corner tab. I turned everything off, and that helped. It was at 1,200 GB before I did that. WHY does the Opera browser now use far more memory than any other browser and task...and I mean far more? A browser should not be using that much memory to run. Google Chrome has 7 tasks running at once....but Opera has 25?..no...sorry...30!? May be time to just leave Opera if it's needing to use so much resources just to flippin' run. jjhanzely @leocg last edited by leocg @leocg That's not normal at all. I tired another browser...and it look less than half of what Opera uses. No browser should need so much resources to run. leocg Moderator Volunteer @jjhanzely last edited by @jjhanzely First, nothing in your computer will use 900GB of RAM because you.
