In terms depth. I think either way GG would have been coming off the bench with Gates and Jackson starting. I think Mbodji will help in a backup role for Gates, as he is more of a true 5. But IMO neither are stars, but with this team lacking front court depth, they had to get a body in there. It's probably better that Mbodji committed instead of GG since he is in the 6'9 range and GG is in the 6'6" range. When Gates comes out they are going to need a big body in there.
