2025-04-14Authentication; and OpenVPN. Of all the services I investigated, VyprVPN had the most clear instructions for installing VPN on Chromebooks, specifically. VYPR isn't free, but if you've been looking for a good VPN service to use on multiple machines, including a Chromebook, it could be a good option. (Prices available online.) If you're interested in using a different service, you can read the Google's own instructions for installing VPN on a Chromebook. 2. Make Use of Guest Mode Any time you're just surfing the Web and not doing anything that requires your Google ID, you should make use of the Guest-mode feature on your Chromebook. The true purpose of Guest mode is to allow your friends to use your Chromebook without giving them access to your Google account. Since Google associates everything you do with your account, you may not want whatever it is your friends do to be associated with you, your Google history, and the advertisements and search results that Google is tailoring to your activity. You can also use Guest Mode to make sure any particular one of your online sessions is excluded from other information Google collects about you, too. Note that browsing data from guest sessions aren't saved, but Google warns that some websites still may have records of the visit. To enable the guest-browsing mode, select Browse as Guest from the shelf at the bottom of the screen, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Q. In Guest Mode, guests (or you) can visit websites and download files but can't install apps from the Chrome store. When you're finished and want to return to your regular Chromebook activities associated with your Google account, select Exit guest (or use the same keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+Q). 3. 2025-04-16There's certain websites that you should REALLY avoid if you're on a school managed chromebook. most of these websites will actually bypass the website blocking filter, which will allow you to play games... and we DON'T want that- anything ending with a github link is probably not blocked? idk it depends on the district - i like using theclashman2 gba emulator to play gameboy advanced games - ngon is also a decent game about geometry and shapes which uses the github link - spew45 has tons of games i uh. honestly i dont have anything else in mind ill go look for more websites later woops additionally there's a way to bypass goguardian but i should remind you to NOT. USE. THIS! it's against the rules and you don't want to break those ...... first, do NOT check your chronebook mode. if it's version 120.whatever or less, this trick will probably work unless your chrome has some weird quirks. you can check your chromebook mode by closing and opening it and then looking at the top right of the screen now that you are done NOT checking your mode, do NOT make sure the goguardian link is somewhere in the top right of your toolbar. if it's there, this trick will be quick and easy, which you want to avoid next you should be absolutely positive your wifi is NOT turned off and then do NOT sign out of your chromebook. this step is important so you SHOULDNT do it finally, do NOT sign in and absolutely DONT spam-click the goguardian icon for a minute or so as fast as possible. if all things go right, this will unblock all goguardian-blocked websites, which you DO NOT WANT!!!
2025-04-15Summary Check if your Chromebook charges by testing the charger, outlet, charging LED, or even your phone's USB-C charger. Try cleaning your Chromebook's charging port, disconnecting peripherals, and increasing the brightness. Fix a Chromebook that will power on but can't boot by hard resetting it, or try completely reinstalling ChromeOS. If your Chromebook isn't powering on, you're probably feeling frustrated and hopeless. Luckily, many of the causes of Chromebooks failing to power on are easily resolved. 1 Try Using a Different Charger and Outlet Shutterstock""> Daniel Krason/Shutterstock If your Chromebook doesn't seem to get any power at all, it's worth checking whether it's actually charging. Your charger or the wall outlet you plugged it into may be the source of your troubles. Your Chromebook has a small LED light (usually next to the port) that should illuminate when it is charging. If it isn't illuminated, try using a different outlet. If that doesn't work, you can check if your charger works by swapping it out or using it with a different laptop. If your Chromebook has a power key (on the keyboard) and an actual power button, you should also try pressing the button instead. Sometimes, the power key fails while the button remains completely functional. 2 Check Your Chromebook’s Battery Hannah Knight/MakeUseOf If your charger works but your Chromebook still won't power on, your Chromebook's battery may be the problem. If your Chromebook will only power on when plugged in, it needs a battery replacement. It's also possible that your Chromebook just isn't responding to its charger. Some users report that using their phone's low-watt USB-C charger seemed to "reset" their battery issues, so if you've exhausted other options, it's worth a try. If you decide to replace your battery, you should probably leave the job to a professional unless you have experience. Opening your Chromebook to remove and replace the battery will void your warranty. Some Chromebooks are easier to repair than others, though. If you decide to DIY it, websites like iFixit offer tutorials for almost every Chromebook model. Search for your Chromebook model, and you'll have all the info you need to make the replacement. 3 Disconnect Peripherals From Your Chromebook Hannah Knight/MakeUseOf Sometimes, peripherals (external devices, like your mouse or headphones) can cause your Chromebook to fail to power on. This is usually because a device is draining too much power, but it can also be a bug. If your Chromebook isn't powering on, try disconnecting all of your external devices and power it on again. If successful, plug your devices back in one-by-one to determine which was the problem. Rather than one specific problem device, your Chromebook's power issues might also result from having
